Evaluate the impact of using leverage to acquire commercial real estate. Identify various types of risks associated with owning commercial real estate. Calculate lease buyout costs from an owner’s and tenant’s perspective. Understand taxation issues that affect commercial investment real estate investments, including the impact of a Section 1031 tax-deferred exchange. Evaluate various hold versus dispose alternatives such as do nothing, refinance, exchange, and sell and buy. I was born and raised in Brewster (Putnam County) and moved to Southern Dutchess County around 1995.
